Before you open an account
Opening an account or requesting a loan from a restricted jurisdiction, or for a sanctioned person, is a breach of our terms of use, whatever technical means are used to connect.
Where our services are not available
Because of international sanctions and legal restrictions, we do not provide our services to persons who are resident or located in the following countries and regions:
| Country or region | Scope |
|---|---|
| Cuba | The whole country |
| Iran | The whole country |
| North Korea (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea) | The whole country |
| Syria | The whole country |
| Russia | The whole country |
| Belarus | The whole country |
| Crimea, Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson | These regions of Ukraine |
“Resident” refers to the country where you normally live; “located” refers to the place where you are when you use our services, even temporarily.
Sanctioned persons
We do not provide our services to any person or entity that is designated on a sanctions list maintained by the United Nations, the European Union, the United Kingdom or the United States, to any entity owned or controlled by such a person, or to anyone acting on their behalf. We may refuse or block collateral, payouts or repayments connected with sanctioned persons, sanctioned blockchain addresses or unlawful activity, as the law requires.
Other places where our services would be unlawful
We do not offer our services in any country where offering or using them would be unlawful, even if that country is not listed above. Before opening an account, check that you are allowed to use our services under the law of the country where you live. If you are unsure, seek independent legal advice.
What you confirm
When you open an account, and each time you request a loan, you confirm that:
- you are not resident or located in a restricted jurisdiction;
- you are not a sanctioned person, and you are not owned or controlled by, or acting on behalf of, a sanctioned person;
- the collateral you pledge and the funds you receive are not connected with any sanctioned person or unlawful activity;
- you are allowed to use our services under the law that applies to you.
You must tell us from your client area without delay if any of these statements stops being true.
Technical restrictions
We may restrict access to our website or to the client area from restricted jurisdictions by technical means. Using a network service to circumvent them does not make you eligible for our services.
If you are, or become, ineligible
We may refuse to open an account, decline a loan request, or suspend or close an account if we have reason to believe that its holder is not eligible. If you become ineligible while you have a loan, you remain bound by your loan and pledge agreement and must repay what you owe. Where sanctions law requires it, we may have to freeze assets connected with a sanctioned person and report to the competent authorities, in which case we can only act as the authorities allow.
Changes to this list
Sanctions and legal restrictions change. We may update this list at any time and will tell you in your client area. Where the law requires it, a change can take effect immediately.
