Currency

Why the franc’s exchange rate matters.

Crypto-assets are priced in US dollars on the market. When the franc strengthens against the dollar, your collateral is worth fewer francs, and your loan-to-value rises. The franc has often strengthened in periods of market stress, which can coincide with falling crypto prices.

New LTV = LTV × (1 + rise of the franc against the dollar)

Borrowing in dollars removes the effect; borrowing in Swiss francs keeps your repayments in the currency you spend. Either way, the thresholds are the same: margin call at 70%, partial liquidation at 80%.

Help centre

Can I get a crypto loan in Swiss francs?

Yes. Pledge bitcoin, ether, Solana, USDT or USDC and receive Swiss francs by SIC on an account in Switzerland, or by SWIFT on a franc account abroad.

How are Swiss franc loans paid?

By SIC, the Swiss interbank payment system, to accounts in Switzerland, and by SWIFT to franc accounts elsewhere. SIC payments are settled on Swiss banking days; SWIFT payments usually take one to two business days.

Is a Lombard loan common in Switzerland?

Yes. Swiss private banks have long offered Lombard loans against securities portfolios, usually with high minimums and full due diligence. We apply the same principle to crypto-assets, from €1,000 or its equivalent, without documents.

Does the franc’s exchange rate affect my loan?

Yes. Crypto is priced in US dollars, so if the franc strengthens against the dollar, your collateral is worth fewer francs and your loan-to-value rises. A 5% rise of the franc takes a 50% loan-to-value to about 52.5%.

What fees apply to franc payouts?

SWIFT payouts are charged at cost, and any payout cost is shown before you confirm. There are no origination, administration or early-repayment fees.

Can I repay in Swiss francs?

Yes, by bank transfer in francs with the reference shown in your client area, or in USDT or USDC, in full or in part, at any time and with no fee.
