A worked example
Six months with a credit line on one bitcoin.
Bitcoin at €73,814, a Balanced limit at 10.9% APR, interest paid monthly. Each step lasts two months.
| When | You owe | Interest a month |
|---|---|---|
| Day 1Pledge 1 BTC and open a Balanced line. Your limit: €36,907. | €0 | €0.00 |
| Day 1Draw €19,000, paid to your bank by SEPA Instant. | €19,000 | €172.58 |
| Month 2A payment comes in: repay €9,000, no fee. | €10,000 | €90.83 |
| Month 4A new expense: draw €24,000 again. | €34,000 | €308.83 |
| Month 6Repay €34,000 and close the line. Your bitcoin is returned. | €0 | €0.00 |
Interest over the six months: €1,144.50, and nothing else. The example assumes the price of bitcoin does not move; in practice your loan-to-value follows the market, and what you can draw rises or falls with it.
Price your own lineInterest
You pay for what you use, by the day.
Interest accrues daily on the amount you have drawn, never on the unused part of your limit. There is no commitment fee and no minimum usage.
Daily interest = amount drawn × APR ÷ 365
For example, €19,000 drawn at 10.9% for 17 days costs €96.46. Repay on day 17 and that is all you pay.
Pay monthly
Interest is settled each month by bank transfer. What you owe, and your loan-to-value, stay where they are.
Let it accrue
Nothing to pay until you repay, but interest is added to what you owe. At 50%, your loan-to-value rises by about 0.45 percentage points a month.
Your rate, set by your limit
| Bitcoin limit | All-in APR |
|---|---|
| Conservative, up to 30% | 8.9% |
| Balanced, up to 50% | 10.9% |
| Max liquidity, up to 60% | 12.9% |
Ether +0.5 pt, Solana +1.5 pt, USDT and USDC 6.9% flat. From €250,000: −0.5 pt; from €1,000,000: −1.0 pt.
Rate changes
The rate of a credit line can change for the future. Any change is announced in your client area in advance, and you can repay without a fee before it applies. For a rate that cannot move, choose a fixed-term loan.
Credit line or fixed term?
Two ways to borrow, the same safeguards.
Both use the same rate grid, the same thresholds and the same zero-fee policy. The difference is how you draw, and how long the rate is fixed.
| Feature | Lombard credit line | Fixed-term loan |
|---|---|---|
| Term | Open-ended, until you close it | 6 or 12 months |
| How you receive money | In one or several draws, up to your limit | One payout, on day one |
| Interest | Daily, on the amount drawn only | Daily, on the amount borrowed |
| Rate | Set by your limit; may change for the future with prior notice | Locked for the whole term |
| Early repayment | Any time, no fee | Any time, no fee |
| At the end | Nothing to do: the line stays open | Repay, or roll over at the rate of the day |
| Best for | Recurring, staged or uncertain needs | A known amount for a known period |
Who it suits
Made for needs that come and go.
Payments in stages
A renovation, a build or school fees paid in instalments: draw each amount when it falls due, not before.
Owners and freelancers
Smooth irregular income: draw when a payment is late, repay the day it lands.
Tax and large bills
Pay a quarterly or annual bill on time, then repay from income over the following months.
A standing reserve
Keep the line open with nothing drawn. An unused line costs nothing, and the cash is about an hour away.
When a credit line is not the right tool
If you need one known amount for a known period and want the rate fixed, a fixed-term loan is simpler. And if you cannot check your client area regularly, choose a low limit: a credit line makes borrowing easy, but the market does not wait.

Help centreWhat is a crypto credit line?
A credit line secured by crypto-assets you pledge. Instead of borrowing one fixed amount, you get a limit based on the value of your collateral, draw what you need when you need it, repay whenever you like and draw again. Interest is charged only on what you have drawn.
How is my credit limit calculated?
Your limit is a loan-to-value ratio applied to your collateral. For bitcoin you choose Conservative (30%), Balanced (50%), Max liquidity (60%). With bitcoin at €73,814, one BTC on a Balanced line gives a limit of €36,907. In money terms the limit moves with the price of your collateral.
Do I pay anything on the part of the limit I do not use?
No. There is no commitment fee and no minimum usage. Interest accrues daily on the amount you have drawn only, so an open line with nothing drawn costs nothing.
How do I draw money from my credit line?
From your client area: choose the amount and the currency, and confirm the bank account. Draws are paid by bank transfer, typically within the hour: SEPA Instant for euros, Faster Payments for pounds, SWIFT for dollars and Swiss francs.
Can the rate of my credit line change?
Yes, for the future only. Any change is announced in advance in your client area, and you can repay without a fee before it applies. If you want a rate that cannot change, a fixed-term loan locks it for 6 or 12 months.
What happens to my credit line if the market falls?
What you can still draw shrinks with the value of your collateral, and the usual thresholds apply to what you owe: an early warning at 65% loan-to-value, a margin call at 70% with 72 hours to act, and a partial liquidation at 80% that brings you back to 65%.
Can I close my credit line at any time?
Yes. Repay what you owe, with no fee, and your collateral is returned to the address you choose, typically within the hour. The network fee for the return is charged at cost and shown before you confirm.
